“First ‘building constructed from garbage'” – that’s the tag line for the EcoArk in Taipei. An entirely local project, from the sourcing and production of the materials- its a space we stumbled upon on a trip towards the Taipei Fine Arts Museum.
From the outside, the texture of the walls does catch the eye, but what’s really incredible is the hugeness of the space inside and the quality of the light created by the wall’s material.
There was some exhibition space which wasn’t very well polished but suitable enough- the most impressive piece was the giant spacious hall- it felt like something one would find in Berlin hidden away somewhere.
I don’t know what the future of this building is, but I would love to see more architecture like this popping up in Taipei.
