Naples: Random Views April 2026

1 hour- an espresso, some pizza at L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele and a short walk to and rom the train station (our destination was actually Pomepii). I have no idea what Naples is really like, but I loved what I saw briefly of it- walking through those scrappy streets quintessentially with laundry hanging out – never knowing what might come around the corner, there was something that felt really alive. Everyone knowing everything going on in the neighborhood- even what day you do your laundry in fact (physically but maybe more so metaphorically?). Will Naples call me back? I don’t know but I’m waiting to say yes.

Notes from Gemini:

The Neighborhood: Centro Storico

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta—locally known as the Duomo di Napoli or Cathedral of San Gennaro- sits within the Centro Storico (Historic Center), a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The narrow, bustling streets immediately surrounding the Duomo echo the original street layout of the ancient Greek city. Walking the area, you are surrounded by centuries of palazzos, smaller chapels, and the vibrant life of central Naples.

Incredible – we often know before we learn.
