There were a few random buildings that I saw while in a vehicle around and about Alkmaar but wasn’t fast enough to grab a photo to capture the location- however, this Fire Station was one that I managed to catch. An easy walk right outside of the old town I has to satisfy my curiosity – I needed to know what those diagonal cuts in the side of the building were for. Turns out one side for stairs, one side for cars for the car park above. My pitch was both were used for fire trucks.

What’s even more interesting is this general government services complex that the fire station is a part of. The satellite view which continues to be a boom of discovery you can see how the building meet together- from the street it looks like this overpass actually connects between the buildings but in fact does not.

A little joy always counts for more than we expect and I can’t deny the petit plaisir this brought me.
