Mexico City: New Construction (SEDATU)

This building is what I believe to be a new construction for SEDATU Edificio de servicios federales, but I will need to revisit it to see for sure.

In researching for a possible claim, I had to leverage the satellite view to make sure I was going to get the right coordinates. This data exposed a geometric shape and varied lattice texture that reveals such depth and dynamism in its concept. Alive is this building- almost as if it could shift- the contrast and tension between the obtuse and acute angles all rising into the sky above.

I’m so curious what the internal functioning space. Like many other buildings in Mexico City, various spaces are not enclosed from the elements but rather just protected. The heat and inefficiency of air conditioning likely presents a constraint within in which design can excel. The stairway peaking through the lattice serves as an example of this.

As Liane Gabora put best, that creativity is paradoxically about pulling something out of the brain that was never put into it. What creativity lies here. Whomever the architect, I look forward to the celebration of the completion of their work.
